TEETH FALL APART- Osowe Oluwagbenga (@gbengaosowe)

(E gbo, e e pe, e e f’erigi jobi)

When your teeth fall apart,

The gum stands alone,

No longer can you chew meat,

The wrinkles on your face abound in folds,

For without doubt you’re old,

And in a tomb you’d soon lie cold,

Hearing nothing while from others’ lips your story is told,

When teeth fall apart,

Your jaws you open wide,

A fine lady by your side,

All your worries pushed to the recesses of your mind,

Couple of thousand buck down the drain,

Your ceiling, a shower at the slightest rain

I wonder how I ever thought you had a brain

Might be 40, maybe 50 or even 60 years from now,

But let us live the lives that’d surely count

On the sands of time, let our footsteps show,

With purposeful living and not just going with the flow,

Knowing that each day we live, the time draws nearer

When our teeth would fall apart

(Inspired by the toothless mouth of an aged woman)
